HOT TUB DELIVERIES IN THIS SNOW? YES! SOAKING IN A SNOWSTORM

Holiday cheer-that’s tea by the hot tub-brought by our friendly, ready for any weather delivery crew! Want your new hot tub by New Year’s Eve? We’re ready to deliver it for you!

I just got an email from a customer about hot tubbing in the snow:

We are really enjoying our hot tub. Good way to warm up when it’s so darn cold. (My feet get like ice. Is it because they are so far away from my heart? Do short women have warm feet?)

The first day it snowed - we suited up and headed out to the hot tub. It is such a rush to be in  the freezing air one minute and up to your neck in hot water the next!!

We caught our breaths, laid back with the winter sun in our faces, snow glistening on the branches above our heads. Keith turned to me and said ”this is the moment hot tub owners look forward to all year. I mean,  isn’t this what’s it all about?”

I told him he sounded like a commercial!

But he’s right. No matter how wonderful it is to soak under the stars in the summer or to a chorus of peeper frogs in the spring- the first soak after the first snowfall is magical.

She’s so right about magical. Saturday night my husband and I got in our rooftop hot tub as the snow fell.
We live on a steep hill and even at 11PM we could hear people skiing and sledding down the hill laughing all the way. The snow was so wet we had to wear hats-Blair in an old felt cowboy hat I’d had from a costume party years ago; I in a Minne Pearl straw number I use to keep the sun off while gardening.  We were a sight.
But the water was heavenly, the snow on the trees magical and we had a wonderful time.  What a perfect way to end the day.
Did anyone else take a  soak in the snowstorm?  I’d love to hear about it.   Anyone making snow angels? I was tempted, but didn’t want to give up the enveloping warmth that takes over your body after soaking in the cold.  I hear there’s more snow on the way. Stay warm in your hot tubs.  And, if you don’t have one yet, you don’t know what you’re missing!

JOURNEY TO THE HOT TUB

There’s an intersting blog called Journey to the Hot Tub by Hot Tub Lizzy aka Beth G. Intrigued, I emailed her and asked her why she used that title. Here’s her reply:
“Here’s the deal with the hot tub. I’ve been separated for a year, and going through divorce. I’ve met a WONDERFUL new man, who I just adore, and we were talking about what could make our wedding night special, since we’ve both been married and had kids and all that… stuff. I said something about always wanting to have someone with me in a hot tub that I could cuddle with and just enjoy (my ex was SO not a cuddler or anything like that) so we decided that on our wedding night we will for sure get a room with a big hot tub… so my blog started out as just as my thoughts and feelings as he and I start to get to know each other and as we progress towards the day we get married… but then it sort of took over a life of it’s own.. :)”
Beth, best of luck on your “journey to the hot tub” via walking down the aisle!!
You’ve made the right choice for a wedding night: a room with a hot tub. Here’s my 2009 wish for you: a hot tub of your own that you can soak in every night with your new husband!! Best of luck! Happy Holidays.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST TO OPERATE A HOT TUB? FAR LESS THAN YOU THOUGHT!

Many, many hot tubs are energy hogs…but NOT Hot Spring Spas. They’re designed to stay hot-at your desired temperature- 24/7 for the lowest energy cost of any spa on the market.

Hot Spring Spas have proven that they are the most energy-efficient spas made and document this fact with test results by Exponent, Inc, the nation’s leading independent, scientific engineering firm. Exponent, Inc. calculated the actual energy consumption of Hot Spring Spas through rigorous third-party testing.

Go to our Olympic Hot Tub Company website to see the estimated costs for most areas in Puget Sound based on this testing.  http://www.olympichottub.com/buyer/energy.html

As of November 1, 2008, the highest cost to operate one of our most popular 4-person models, the Hot Spring Sovereign, was $17.01 in most parts of Puget Sound that were served by Puget Sound Energy and Seattle City Light.  Other utilities including Snohomish PUD and Tacoma Power had an even lower cost.

Hot Spring’s superior full foam insulation as well as the 4″ insulating cover-on which snow won’t melt-keep the heat in like a thermos bottle keeps coffee hot. The spa stays at temperature, ready for your relaxing pleasure 24/7 with just little increments of added heat.  It costs much less to keep the spa hot all of the time rather than let it cool and raise it to temperature.  Plus, you’re far more likely to use it on a regular basis if it’s hot and ready when you are.  If you take 3 or or more baths a week, for example, owing and using a hot tub will be far more economical.  And, not just for electricity usage. The water savings are significant as well.

There are many other energy saving features built-into Hot Spring Spas. The peace of mind that comes from knowing you’ll be able to use your Hot Spring Spa every day without fear of high utility bills…priceless. Purchasing a Hot Spring is a powerfully efficient decision.

HOT SPRING SPA OWNER RAVES ABOUT SILK BALANCE REVOLUTIONARY NEW WATER CARE FOR HOT TUBS & SPAS!

Silk Balance feels good, smells good, is simple to use, protects equipment and is environmentally friendly! Why would anyone stick with old-fashioned chemicals that dry out their skin, are bad for the environment and are a hassle to use?  Our Olympic Hot Tub customers have been emailing their raves for the product since we put it on our shelves in August.

Here’s one from Marty Cole of Seattle, a Hot Spring Sovereign owner.  He made the switch and is so happy with the results.  Silk Balance is a must have for every hot tub!

Hi Alice,

Attached is a pic of me with my Sovereign spa, and below is what I have to say about Silk Balance.

I am a water care FANATIC, and have been faithfully  maintaining my Hot Springs spa for the past 5 years.  I switched to Silk Balance about 6 months ago and could not be happier!  What a time-saver.  No more testing, measuring and keeping so many different chemicals on hand. And my wife and I both notice the silky difference in the quality of the water.  Make the switch… you’ll be glad you did!

Marty Cole

ADVICE FOR PRESIDENT ELECT OBAMA

I’m grateful to fellow blogger Tara Dharma of Santa Cruz, California for this great idea:

“I think President Obama, in his first official act, should provide funding for every single family in the USA to have a hot tub if they want it. It would go a long way to promote health, well-being, and a significant reduction in crime. You heard it here first.” http://taradharma.blogspot.com/2008/12/hot-tub-in-every-home.html

Thank you, Tara Dharma, you said it first. Think of the health benefits. National spending for health care would drop. Families would talk to each other again. People would feel better. The list goes on. The possibilities are endless.

Send this post to friends. Let’s see how far it goes!

MRS. TODD-THE HOT TUB SALESWOMAN

Earlier this week, Chuck Todd, political analyst for MSNBC revealed on the morning show that his mother owned a small business selling hot tubs. He lamented that: “They haven’t sold one. They can’t sell any.” She’s located in a swing state and business is bad. He continued with: “This is one of those middle of the road luxury items.”

I couldn’t let this go without a message to Chuck:

Chuck: You are wrong that a hot tub is a middle of the road luxury item that nobody wants. You and your mom have to check out the health benefits and that fact that a hot tub is a NEED not a want for millions of Americans. And, they are selling! Why don’t you get the facts and spread the word about stress relief, arthritis & fibromyalgia relief, weight loss and diabetes lessening.? Not to mention relieving stiff muscles and having a family place to go now that families don’t eat dinner together anymore. I’ve been in the hot tub business 32 years. I’d be glad to share my marketing tips with your mom. Tell her to call me. Hot tub evangelists live all over America. You should hear what my customers say after they purchase: “It’s the best thing I’ve ever done for myself and my family. I wouldn’t be without it.”

Our biggest service day ever was 9/11. We came in thinking that no one would call. But people realized that when times are tough, they need the solace of their hot tubs for stress relief! We sold 5 yesterday because people are choosing to spend on their health, their families, their quality of life. I’m waiting to hear from your mom.
Best wishes,
Alice Cunningham

Still no word from Mrs. Todd or Chuck.

FOR A VACATION HOME IN YOUR BACKYARD COMPLETE WITH HOT TUB CONSIDER A TREEHOUSE

When Shara and Scott Di Valerio wanted to build a deck for their hot tub in the woods on their five acres east of Seattle near Poulsbo, they had a 12-by-12-foot platform in mind.  During the planning process, they fell in love with their majestic view of Mount Rainier viewed from a stand of pines.  Their perspective changed. Their original simple platform grew into a virtual treehouse complex: hot tub, living room (with phone, cable and Internet), writing alcove and observation platforms.  It also has a suspension bridge and 100-foot zipline. This is definitely NOT a kids’ tree fort.  A typical evening among the gently swaying firs involves several grown-ups, a dip in the hot tub, Champagne and a few rounds of canasta.  “It’s a way to be in nature, ” Shara Di Valerio said.  “Although it’s a luxurious kind of nature. It isn’t camping.”  So inviting was the concept of  the hot tubbing treehouse that the New York Times featured it on Sunday, October 5th in the Key magazine: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/05/realestate/keymagazine/105hstree-t.html?_r=1&scp=1&sq=treehouse&st=cse&oref=slogin

Their luscious at home retreat was built by TreeHouse Workshop, a Seattle firm that built a dozen treehouses last year.  If any single person is responsible for the treehouse renaissance, it’s Peter Nelson who founded TreeHouse Workshop in 1997 with a partner.  “I started more as a builder, ” Nelson said, “but I’ve come to understand that what I’m really after is a place in nature.  To be among the trees is pretty powerful stuff.”  Nelson echos what our customers tell us repeatedly. It just doesn’t get any better than being in nature in your hot tub.  Check out the other treehouses in the Workshop’s portfolio: http://www.treehouseworkshop.com/index.html  And, Nelson is the author of four books on treehouses.  Who knows…there might be a treehouse in your future complete with hot tub!

ONE LITTLE DIP WAS ALL IT TOOK….

A reporter from the Tacoma News Tribune thought that was a great lead for a story. Well, that’s how it really happened. One little dip in a hot tub and I was hooked! The reporter, C. R. Roberts, was so much fun to talk with. Who knew we’d have so much in common and so much to talk about? I’m always up for spreading the word about my passion: hot tubs and hottubbing. Two and a half hours flew by. See the story: http://www.thenewstribune.com/business/story/458635.html.

GEORGE CLOONEY AND HIS HOT TUB

A recent interview with George Clooney in TIME magazine revealed the following hot tub connection. Clooney told the reporter how “he wakes up every morning at 5:30AM to the hoots of a giant owl and how he climbs into his hot tub so he can hoot back, mesmerized by nature, like Tony Sporano and his ducks. ” Hooting owls? Hooting back? Anything George Clooney does will be the next big thing.
